Heavy Algae Buildup on the Deck
Jason’s deck in Nicholasville had built up a heavy layer of green algae over the years. It had reached the point where the growth was affecting how the deck looked and how safe it felt to walk on, since algae gets slippery once it’s wet.
What We Did
Inspect the Deck
We inspected the boards, railings, and stairs to see where the algae was heaviest and to check the wood’s condition.
Apply and Dwell the Cleaning Solution
We applied a biodegradable cleaning solution and let it dwell so it could break down the algae at the source.
Rinse at Low Pressure
We rinsed the deck at low pressure to clear the buildup without damaging the boards, walking Jason through what we were cleaning and why along the way since a deck this size takes some time to do properly and he had questions.
Final Walkthrough
A final walkthrough confirmed every section, including the railings and stairs, had been cleaned evenly.
The Result
The years of algae lifted off the deck, and the wood’s natural color showed through again, restoring safe footing across the whole surface. Jason appreciated knowing what was happening at each step rather than just being handed a finished job.
★★★★★
“Our deck had collected a lot of green algae over the years. They explained what they were cleaning and never made us feel rushed. The deck looks much better.”
